My sorority reached 100 years and babyyyyy we had a TIME! For this year’s Founders Day, I went to two different plays in the city. My goal for the night was to have a look that would easily transition from one move to the next.
I love me some royal blue because it compliments my skin so well + it’s one of my sorority colors. I decided to pull out my royal blue skirt set with a bodysuit and open-toed laced boots to match. I got my set a few years back from Forever 21, but I’ve never gotten any good photos in it (until now). I styled my rainbow braids in a bunch of ponytails, channeling that early 00s, Y2k-ish futurism. I was feeling like Zenon…like a true supernova girlie. To finish it all off, I wore my yellow telephone purse to break up all the blue.
My first stop was Physical Therapy. I know you’re probably wondering “Girl, you got dressed up for physical therapy?”, but it’s not what you’re thinking. Physical Therapy HTX is a Houston-based Dance Party, founded by Amarie Gipson A.K.A. DOUBLEDUTCH. A list of local DJs including DOUBLEDUTCH rotate their sets throughout the night, giving the city a serving of iconic transitions and nonstop material to dance to. PT HTX typically happens once a month at varying locations. If you’re visiting Houston or you’re just looking for something outside of sections and hookah? Keep your eyes peeled for another Physical Therapy.
My second (and last) stop of the night was Grooves, another staple in the Houston nightlife. Our graduate chapter, Gamma Phi Sigma, rented out Grooves to celebrate our centennial and we turned it OUT! The whole place was covered in Blue and Gold and I was living for itttttt. I had a hey-ho good time with my good sistas, traveling sorors, and other greek friends. Literally shook my monkey till I couldn’t shake it no ‘mo 🥵
Founders’ Day ‘22 owes me nothing! I’m already preparing for year 101 😂
